BIMBO CERRUDO…...VERSATILE, BRILLIANT, DYNAMIC & ARTISTE NATURAL

These are the appropriate words which are used to describe Bimbo Cerrudo.

In the fiercely competitive music industry where a single hit can turn a virtual unknown into an overnight sensation, it takes more than talent and image to map out a sure-fire formula for longevity.

Blessed with a cool, solid baritone voice honed through years of classical training, it was but natural for him to start out as a singer. Versatility has been the crucial factor in keeping him afloat through almost two decades in the business. In the wink of an eye, the clean-cut, boyish-looking singer can cover a diverse range of musical styles including lilting ballads, funky R&B grooves, Broadway and opera classics, radio-friendly rock and everything else in between.

He released two albums under the Dyna label, namely: an eponymous debut effort which spawned the hit “Pag Tumatagal Lalong Tumitibay”, and the 70’s-inspired Retro Dancing. Thanks to extensive airplay and a full-throttle slate of solo concerts, he earned the nod of music critics and an even more discriminating set of fans.

He has dazzled foreign audiences via sell-out concerts in the US, Asia, Middle East and Europe, even performing on several occasions as ambassador of goodwill for the Philippine Department of Tourism. As a result, he has established a solid following composed of overseas Filipino workers and foreigners alike.

It was in musical stage plays though, where his discipline and spontaneity were polished. As an even greater testament to his talent, he was able to snag plum roles in major musicals, including Wang Ta in “Flower Drum Song”, Tony in “West Side Story” and the Manila run of “Miss Saigon”. He has received rave reviews for his sensitive and fiery performances in every one of these endeavours.

In recent months, he has been showing his mettle in television acting via a mini-series, “Joyride”, which is aired daily on GMA channel 7.
