Philippine Independence Day 2020

Updated: Jun 19, 2020

🇵🇭 On Saturday, the 13 of June 2020, FAANT executive committee members honoured the 122nd Philippine Independence Day with the BayanihaNT Response Team, hub volunteers and recipients along with the Australian Red Cross.

It was an impromptu celebration yet still very meaningful. The BayanihaNT Response Team organised a short program (10 minutes to be exact) to commemorate the special day. There were speeches from Ms. Judith Ventic on behalf of the FAANT committee and Mr. Jurse Salandanan who represented CDUFA (CDU Filipino Association) and BayanihaNT. We would also like to thank Ms. Mia Ponce for the amazing performance despite the short notice.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Haileybury Rendall Clontarf Foundation for volunteering their time. Four young men from the academy helped us distribute the groceries. Salamat. ❤️

Thanks to all who visited and brought food for everyone. Special thanks to Karlo Suzara and team and Cristina Magbojos for the delicious spread. 👌🏼

Andy from Faceboother donated his time and materials for the free photobooth yesterday. Thank you, Andy. You made it more special for everyone. 📸

Most of all, we thank Australian Red Cross and Connected Women for being our partners this week. We are truly humbled by your kind gesture. Maraming salamat po sa inyo.🙏🙏🙏

We are indeed so blessed as we have been COVID-free in more than a month. Many establishments have now reopened and we are thankful. However, many people in our community remain unemployed. And as our borders remain close, the hospitality industry isn’t really back to “normal” yet. Consequently, many have lost work hours despite the reopening. Everyone is welcome to visit the hub and meet the recipients. 🙂 Let us get to know each other.

If you would like to volunteer or help in any way, contact us anytime.
